Busy Week
Since I had three days free this week, John and I got to work and finished building the raised flower beds. Today we bought top soil and manure and I started filling them. It'll take a few days to finish. I'm sure glad we got the hot tub working - more or less. I ache.
I started the new job on Thursday. It's good to be busy again. Of course I'm completely discombobulated. I hope I can stay on the right path while Lowry's gone the first three days of next week (Lowry's the one I'm replacing). But I am getting settled in and I'm understanding things. I just don't fully grasp what to do when yet. But I have a phone, a computer, and stuff in my desk.
News flash - we're going to hire a warehouse manager who will report to ME! I've never had an employee before.
Moving on.
For the last 7 1/2 years I've been a working as a contractor for AT&T's local services group. That ends today. During that time I've received my paychecks from four different companies because AT&T powers that be couldn't make a decision and stick with it. Only three other people were part of this group when I started and they have all left the company. Now it's my turn. Two weeks ago my first AT&T boss called. He was creating a new position at the company that now employs him and he wanted me to fill it. Besides being a full employee, rather than a contractor, he offered more money than what I'm making now. A year ago I asked for a raise and never received an answer. Even if they had given me a raise then, the new job would still pay more. So I took it. In about 3 hours we'll all go to lunch and from there I'll go home. Next Thursday I start my new job.YES!
OK. What's next?
Michael is married.
I took Tuesday off to get ready and we left Wednesday morning for Arkansas. We got there just in time to eat a bite before Bible study. I spent most of Thursday working on the groom's cakes. Friday we had the bridesmaids' luncheon, dinner and rehearsal. Then we took Alice back to Connie's while Melody and Joel went to the roast & toast at Midnight Oil. Saturday we headed into Searcy in time to leave the cakes at the country club before going to a cookout that Sarah's uncle hosted. Then it was time to go to the church and dress for pictures.
The ceremony went off with a few hiccups, but no major glitches. The bride was beautiful. The groom was handsome. The church auditorium was lovely.
And I thought we did a pretty good job of filling the groom's side of the building. We had all of Connie's family, Richard & Jade, Todd & Georgia and their kids (Daniel was a ring bearer), three Collins's besides the one in the wedding, Linnea, Suzanne & Matt, three Bankers, and Wayne & Loretta.
We left Beedeville early Sunday morning, went to church in South Haven, MS, and got home around supper time.
Then today I picked a pile of lettuce, one radish and 7 quarts of green beans with a few more vines to make that were planted later. And my cantaloupe is finally sprouting!
My Grand Experiment
Last week I gave in and signed up with NutriSystem. I have GOT to lose weight. My first food order arrived on Tuesday and I started it yesterday. I got through the day with only one cheat - a Hershey bar. According to their calculator, I ate just over 1700 calories yesterday. I also drank all 8 glasses of water and exercised for 15 minutes. Not a bad start in my book!
