From today's AJC Vent

Pass the Metamucil. My teen idol, Bobby Sherman, is 63. Gidget has osteoporosis and Barry Manilow is having hip replacement surgery.

I'm starting to feel old. I knew this would happen when I bought a Buick.

An Endorsement

I would like to take this opportunity to throw my support behind the Bull Moose candidate for the 4th District (Georgia) congressional seat. Please vote for Loren Baggins ... er ... Frodo Collins ... um ... Loren Collins.

Life is getting better...

A few years ago I bought a pantsuit for Easter. It has one of those duster type coats and I really like it. I wore it yesterday morning. If I continue as I have, I'll need suspenders to wear it next spring. The pants are actually loose. Even the waist band.

On another note, I had a most productive weekend. I got a lot of sewing done and got some rest.

Last night we stopped at Publix to get bananas and I ran into a woman I worked with at Alumax ten years ago. We had time for a nice little chat.

Grand Experiment Update

I'm finally starting to see some results other than on the scales.

The dress I'm wearing today used to be, um, shall we say "snug". I put it on this morning and it fits like it should.

When eating out, I used to practically lick my plate clean (remember the starving children in China) and now I generally stop with something, sometimes nearly half, still on my plate. I actually get take-home boxes on a regular basis.

But the kicker was last night. I had a Cabin Camping class and had arranged to buy some leftover Tagalongs from one of the leaders attending. When I got home I opened one box. In "the old days" I'd have eaten the entire box at one sitting (bear in mind that I would have waited at least three or four days before opening another box). Last night, before I had eaten even half of them I decided I'd had enough and put the rest in the freezer.

And it's none too soon. I was beginning to get discouraged and wondered if the sacrifices were worth it. I didn't expect to lose the weight quickly, but I needed something to reassure me that I was getting somewhere and I'm a long way from anyone knowing just by looking that I'm losing weight.

Progress is a good thing.

Here's mine.

My kids come up with these clever questions for people to answer on their blogs. I think, "Why bother? My kids are the only ones who ever look at my blog."

So now I have a question for my kids:

It's time to start shopping. What do you and your spouses want for Christmas? Include colors and sizes (especially sizes). Otherwise you take your chances with whatever I find that I like.
