Reviving a Habit
My good thing for this week is The Front Porch Class. Since we started attending the Northlake Church of Christ, we have been part of this Sunday morning class "for people who don't do Sunday school." They are all about caring. Sometimes we spend the entire class period talking about what is happening in our lives. This is the most connected-together class I've ever seen and that's what drew us to it.
It's smaller than most of the adult classes and that's part of why it works. We're an extremely diverse group of people who have no trouble thinking outside the box.
Last year we studied Revelation, taking it slowly some weeks and quickly other weeks. I got more out of it than I've ever gotten from a study of Revelation before. Now we're reading Neal Lightfoot's "How We Got the Bible" together. Normally I would find such a study very dry and dull, but this group makes it interesting.
Now if I can just remember to do this every Monday.
