A new experience.

Over the years I've watched TV coverage of wild fires in California and elsewhere and thought it was terrible, but wondered if TV showed how bad it really was.

Now we've had wildfires burning for nearly a month in the southern part of Georgia and again I wondered if we really understand the extent from watching the news.

Today we're getting a taste, or rather smell, of how bad it is. The wind shifted and Atlanta is blanketed with smoke from the other end of the state. A fire that can produce this much smoke is more than I can imagine.

And TV can't do it justice.
